RSBJ XAGA500 43/8-300 Heat Shrink Joint Closure System for Unpressurized Copper Networks
Heat shrink joint closure system is also called heat shrink closure, heat shrinkable closure, heat shrink splice closure,heat shrink joint closure. It is a type of closure used to seal and protect copper cable splices, connections, and joints in various applications, particularly in telecommunications and power industries. They are essentially a heat-shrinkable sleeve or tubing that’s placed around the cable and then heated, causing it to shrink tightly around the cable and create a waterproof, weatherproof, and mechanically strong seal.
There are two main types of heat shrinkable closures:
- Non-pressurized Heat Shrinkable Closures: Benchmarks can be Raychem/Tyco/Commscope XAGA 500, 530 and 550. These heat shrinkable closures are designed for use in applications where there is no internal pressure on the cable. They are typically made from a fiber-reinforced heat shrinkable sleeve with a hot melt adhesive lining. When the sleeve is heated, the adhesive melts and forms a seal around the cable connection to provide tightness.
- Pressurized Heat Shrinkable Closures: Benchmarks can be Raychem/Tyco/Commscope XAGA 1000. These heat shrinkable closures are designed for use in applications where there is internal pressure on the cable, such as underground vaults. They are typically made from a fiber-reinforced heat shrinkable sleeve with a metal canister or a combination of sleeve, buttress, and canister. The canister provides additional strength and helps to prevent the closure from bursting under pressure.

Tianyu RSBJ 500 Heat shrink closures are alternative replacement for Raychem/Tyco/Commscope XAGA 550 fiber reinforced heat shrink closure system. It is designed to provide excellent split resistance, environmental and mechanical protection for copper cable joint. The fiber reinforced heat shrink sleeve is made from a composite laminate material consisting of reinforcing glass fibers, polyethylene layer, an aluminum layer for moisture vapor transmission and hot melt adhesive on the inner surface. The heat shrink sleeves are supplied in wraparound form along with stainless steel channels to make the sleeves cylindrical prior to shrinkage. The outer surface of the sleeves are coated with temperature indicating paint which changes color to indicate optimum shrinking. On application of heat, the inner adhesive layer melts and bonds to the cable surface to provide a waterproof seal.
Unlike XAGA 550 are supplied with 2PCs of meatal(aluminum) canisters, TianyuLink XAGA 500 Heat Shrink Closures are supplied with 1PC of flat cardboard liners.
